End of Week Round-up #25
22nd April 2022
Got sent a beautiful book from Thames & Hudson this week, ‘One Thousand Years of Manga’. Very apt as the interest in Manga at the bookshop seems to be at an all time high.
Now just to get time to read it ;) As I’ve got a couple of other books on the go right now, including a new one about tarot which was sent out of the blue which is weird as I was thinking of getting a Hanged Man tattoo!
What I’ve been up to this week and other news.
It also felt as though this week was slightly more organised than most and I was able to get a lot done on preparing things for the Friday and adding more information and pages to the various projects.
Biggie though was I’ve got my cameras out of storage, cleaned them, and recharged the batteries as I’m feeling the need to get out and take more photographs (to languish on my hard drive for decades ;) )
The new Author Q&A this week is Hilary Tailor talking about her debut, why not read about her books and writing process. If you want to be included please contact me at email@example.com.
What is always great news to report in this section is the opening of a new bookshop!
This time it’s Seanchaí Books at 6 Claregate Street, Kildare Town, Ireland. They opened last weekend and the shop looks beautiful!
I’m still watching several others that are looking for premises or have found them and are getting ready to open and will let you know when they do!

Questions for Publishers
The ‘Publisher Profile’ feature is kicking off once again, there are already a few publishers who were part of this earlier and I’ll be updating and expanding their info first.
Each post will have contact information, some blurb, images, contact details, website, etc. I’ll be using public information for this, but if you want to be part of this you can get ahead of the crowd by answering the following questions and emailing the answers and some photos to firstname.lastname@example.org:
* When did you start publishing?
* What made you want to start an independent publisher?
* What genres do you specialise in?
* Where are you based?
* Do you have a submission window, if so when?
* What is your submission procedure?
* Who are you (team photo if possible)?
* What was your background in the book industry before this venture?
* Talk about some of your books if possible, upcoming, favourite?
* Some photos, please
* Website/Facebook/Instagram/Twitter and any other contact details please
Then each publisher on the list will have an expanded entry to make the list more searchable.
What’s happening next week?
"OK campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties cause it’s cold out there...it’s cold out there every day."
Got about forty draft posts set up all waiting for me to pop a review into them, this will continue…
I’ve also realised I’m always let down by the lack of job links each week and will be making a concerted effort to find a process to help me get more in each week.
Still doing a training course with Affinity Publisher to start working on the ‘book’ of indie publishers.
There will be occasional relax time as well, maybe.
And, as always, if you have any news or offers you would like included in the newsletter please email me at email@example.com and I’ll get it on ASAP.
A reminder that a paid subscription to this newsletter is only the cost of a large coffee once a month. This helps with lots of things but right now it would help with domain and hosting costs for the various projects.
Thanks to the current number of paid subscribers I’ve been able to get a monthly subscription to The Bookseller. Cheers!
All information is going to continue to be free so this is just a thank you to me for collating and developing it all.
The links to the various projects can be found at:
