End of Week Round-up #27
6th May 2022
It’s been a good week this week, been asked to do a couple of things that I can’t talk about yet… (Don’t you hate it when people do that?)
This has been a week of getting back to the allotment, foraging, and some good cooking. This is a salmon and wild garlic risotto full of leeks from the allotment, and we always cook enough to have arancini the day after.
What I’ve been up to this week and other news.*
I’ve been updating the maps on the website so that each ‘area’ has its own map to make it easier to look for a local shop, and will be adding more complete addresses to the lists to make the site easier to search.
Also made the decision not to have a Jobs Link section for a while as I just don’t have the time to go searching and listing them each week at the moment, it may come back when I’ve got more free time.
Got at least one piece of good news which I can’t talk about for a while but will let you know as soon as I can, really cheered me up!
The new Author Q&A this week is Samantha Terrell talking about her poetry, why not read about her books and writing process? If you would like to be included please contact me at contact@bigbeardedbookseller.com.
Other news.
Bert’s Books has taken the plunge to move into a physical bookshop after being online only for a long time.
They opened at the start of the week on the 2nd of May, and all the photos made me so jealous that I wan’t able to get there.
They can be found at 54 Godwin Court, Swindon, SN1 4BB and as usual on Twitter and their Website.

"OK campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties cause it’s cold out there...it’s cold out there every day."
Going to double down and get all existing Author Q&A posts on the blog as drafts so I know where I am with them.
Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature runs all week from today to the 14th, why not check out their programme?
‘Where Is My Smile?’ is released on the 14th of May and can be preordered here - https://www.tinytreebooks.co.uk/shop/p/where-smile-natalie-reeves-billing
It’s written by acclaimed children’s author and children’s mental health advocate Natalie Reeves Billing and beautifully illustrated by Hannah Jesse. Centred around a little boy — he can’t find his smile anywhere! He searches and searches, but it’s nowhere to be found. Where could his smile be?
The first in a new series focused around children’s mental health, this delightful picture book is perfect as a bedtime story, and to help little children understand that it’s okay to be sad sometimes, but we can always find our way through it.

A reminder that a paid subscription to this newsletter is only the cost of a large coffee once a month. This helps with lots of things but right now it would help with domain and hosting costs for the various projects.
Thanks to the current number of paid subscribers I’ve been able to get a monthly subscription to The Bookseller. Cheers!
All information is going to continue to be free so this is just a thank you to me for collating and developing it all.
